back in rhythm…

Updated: Apr 3

getting waves can take a lot of time and you can easily lose motivation to getting waves. It’s important to remember a couple things to keep or get back in rhythm to waving.

  1. Be Consistent.

you should make time to brush everyday for at least an hour a day even when you don’t feel like it. Most days, you will be comfortable brushing for an hour in one session once you get used to it. Some days, you will have to break brush sessions up into 15 to 30 minutes sessions adding up to an hour. All in all, you want to be consistent with brushing everyday for at least an hour and always rag afterwards. Brush. Compress. Release. Repeat…it’s a lifestyle I called the BCRR Lifestyle. This helps you to remember the basics when you slip off your grind.

  1. Use Products.

try products that actually work for your hair. Use products that make it easier for your waves to develop. I prefer using natural hair products that promote shine, moisture and usually are light. Most times, products are used based on your current wave level or amount of hair you have on your head. Natural hair oils are light and can be used to add benefits to the hair. Pomades are thicker used to help hold the hair in place, help create waves by making the hair soft and laid. Also, try new brushes, du-rags, lay down pads without over doing it. Invest into new products but don’t just buy to buy.

  1. Adjust.

it’s important that you adjust to your daily schedule, weather, etc. basically the time you have. You don’t want to brush your hair if your wolfing outside of a mirror aka blind brushing. It will only cause frizz and forks in your waves. Instead brush in a bathroom with fresh air with a wall and hand mirror to see angles you can’t see without it. Also, adjusting means if you play sports you may have to perform wash n styles frequently to keep your hair clean and healthy. Also, if you work in outside conditions try to wear compression such as du-rags and stocking caps throughout your work shift. Being able to adjust will keep you away from losing progress you made. It will save your progress so you can start where you left off when it’s time to do it again.
